Our approach

Healthy, strong and mobile. And staying that way.

We're a team of London-based sports massage therapists, with clinic rooms and a studio five minutes' walk from Old Street. Our therapists are cyclists, amateur acrobats and dancers, but have a great love for all sports and respect for all human movement needs.

Our passion for discovering how we can help you is what sets us apart.

What to expect

Every session has three parts

  1. 1

    Treatment

Hands-on manual therapy (massage, stretching, strengthening) to work the soft tissue towards your goal, such as reducing pain or gaining range of movement. For one person that's 90% massage; for another it might be 50% exercise therapy to get the body moving.

  2. 2

    Education

You'll leave knowing more about your condition and how to handle it: information, but also concepts, like the fact that to make progress you don't have to be extreme, just consistent.

  3. 3

    Tools

The tools to help yourself between appointments, whether that's a set of stretches for your daily routine, gym exercises to modify, or reading to further your understanding.

“You don’t have to be extreme, just consistent.”

The team

Here for everyone

A group of highly trained therapists working with a common philosophy. Your goal might be running your first 5k without that niggling back pain, easing discomfort during pregnancy, or your tenth London Marathon.

Tom Sharp doing a handstand in a field

Founder · Sports Massage Therapist (BTEC Level 5) & Personal Trainer

Tom Sharp

Tom started Sharp Movement in 2018 to help people move better, whether that's circus mastery or a couch-to-5k. His own experience of high-level sport (and of serious injury) means he can help clients with a wide range of needs. He enjoys rock climbing and circus acrobatics but simply loves human movement, so whatever your goals or injuries, he'll be determined to find a treatment and exercise programme that works for you.

FAQ

Good questions

Anything else? Email sharpsportsmassage@gmail.com.

Do I need to be “sporty” to book a sports massage?

Not at all. Sports massage can relieve everyday aches and pains, be part of a rehab programme, or help you perform at a big race or competition. Our clients' goals range from pain-free gardening to circus mastery.

Which treatment should I choose?

For a specific injury or concern, choose Sports Massage (medium–strong pressure). For chronic stiffness and tension, Deep Tissue (strong pressure). For stress and tiredness, Relaxation (light–medium pressure). If you're pregnant, book Pregnancy Massage with Cheli.

What happens in a session?

Your therapist assesses your condition, then combines hands-on treatment with education and tools to take home. Depending on why you've come, that could be 90% massage or a 50/50 mix of massage and exercise therapy.

How long should I book?

Sports and deep tissue massage come in 45, 60 and 90 minute sessions; relaxation and pregnancy massage in 60 or 90. Existing clients can also book a 30-minute follow-up.

How does the Event Package work?

Three one-hour sessions around your race or competition: a training check-in, a pre-event session the week before and a recovery session the week after. Book all three for 10% off; email us for details.

Do you offer dry needling?

Yes. Ask your therapist about it when you book.

Where are you, and is it accessible?

Unit 6, The Energy Centre, Bowling Green Walk, London N1 6AL, by Hoxton Square: a five-minute walk from Old Street Underground or Hoxton Overground. Wheelchair access is available.

How do I pay?

Cash, credit and debit cards are all accepted.
